Track Premiere: GosT, “Garruth”

Texas-based dark synthwave star GosT is already amongst the heaviest in the burgeoning genre, but his latest track “Garruth” — from the new album Possessor, coming later this year — may just be his heaviest work yet.

Somehow the bass seems even more fuzzed out, the peaks and valleys of the uber-compressed beats hit even harder and the arrangement is even tighter and more nuanced than ever before, all in just two minutes and twenty-eight seconds. GosT’s own post announcing the new album describes it as “a cross between Anaal Nathrakh and Justice” and fuck if that isn’t the most accurate description ever. Where other synthwave artists may be content to rehash a formula that’s proven effective, GosT is one of the few that’s actively pushing the genre into new territory.
