British Actor Douglas Booth in Negotiations to Play Mötley Crüe’s Nikki Sixx in The Dirt Movie
Holy shit. We’ve been writing about a potential movie version of Mötley Crüe’s The Dirt for as long as there’s been a MetalSucks. But if they’re in the casting phase… that means they really are getting close to finally making this thing.
So: Deadline reports that twenty-five-year-old British actor Douglas Booth is “in negotiations” to play Nikki Sixx in the movie, a Netflix production which will be directed by Jeff Tremaine (Jackass, Bad Grandpa). Booth’s previous credits Darren Aronofsky’s Noah and The Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending. I do not remember him in Noah. I do remember him in Jupiter Ascending. He was abysmal in that movie… but everyone was abysmal in that movie, which was a total shit-show. I guess what I’m saying is, Booth may overtly seem like an odd casting decision, but I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. If the movie sucks, then we can all bitch and moan.
Speaking of whether or not the movie will suck: Deadline also reveals that the latest draft of the script is by Amanda Adelson, who was Tremaine’s assistant on Bad Grandpa, and has no produced feature credits. So, as is the case with Booth, it’s hard to know if that’s good news or bad news. Having read an old draft of the screenplay by Rich Wilkes (Airheads, xXx), I’d have to say… well, Adelson couldn’t possible do much worse.
Meanwhile, Mick Mars wants Gary Oldman to play him in the movie, which I’m betting will never, ever happen.
Still word on a potential release date for this thing, but I’m guessing it’ll be in 2019 sometime.
