Track Premiere: One Hundred Thousand, “A Place You’d Rather Be”

0

The great Axl Rosenberg once described One Hundred Thousand as “Like the lovechild of Sevendust and TesseracT,” and boy did he ever hit the nail on the head with that one. And just as we adore both of those bands, we love the hell out of One Hundred Thousand.

The New Jersey act’s latest track, “A Place You’d Rather Be,” does little to fly in the face of that description. The band’s bassist, Andrew Magnotta, tells MetalSucks that it’s the most commercial-sounding song they’ve released to date, but reminds us that “it’s still in 7/4 for most of the way,” keeping that complex, proggy edge. You’ll definitely hear both of the aforementioned bands here, but you’ll also hear something unique to One Hundred Thousand.

Check out the new song in ’80s-inspired lyric video form below. The track is available for pre-order right now (it comes out tomorrow, November 10th), with a new album on the way in spring of 2018.
