Wes Borland’s Big Dumb Face Released Their First New Song in 16 Years and It’s Brutally Heavy, We Swear

0

In an alternate world, Big Dumb Face, the grind/noise/electronic/weirdo project Wes Borland launched with his brother, Scott, in 2001, would’ve put him on the map as a top-tier artist. The band would go on to sign with Relapse Records and tour with Pig Destroyer, earning their stripes in the metal underground and becoming a hallowed name in the pantheon of metal.

But that ain’t reality. Stupid Limp Bizkit happened!

Still, we can appreciate Big Dumb Face for what it is: really fucking out there, super good, and startlingly heavy (given Borland’s day job band, anyway). Today we get the first single from the second Big Dumb Face album, their first in 16 years — titled Where is Duke Lion? He’s Dead (a reference to their first album, Duke Lion Fights the Terror) —  and it forces us to ponder such an alternate reality. Press play on “He Rides of the Skies,” close your eyes, pretend Limp Bizkit never happened and you’ll get it; it really could’ve happened!

Where is Duke Lion? He’s Dead comes out October 31st via Edison Sound; pre-order here. If you want to hear some more music from the album, check out these previews.
