Marilyn Manson Injures Leg, Taken to Hospital After Being Crushed by Stage Prop at NYC Show
Marilyn Manson has had a rough weekend. Just one day after falling off the stage and injuring his ankle at Friday’s show in Philadelphia, he suffered a leg injury at last night’s show (Saturday, September 30th) at the Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC at the behest of a stage prop that fell on top of him.
The mishap happened during his trademark cover of the Eurythmics’ “Sweet Dreams” and can be seen at the 2:15 mark in the fan-filmed video below, when Manson appears to attempt hanging from a stage prop before it gives way and he falls backwards, taking it along with him. Stage hands who rush to his rescue can be seen taking more than a minute to help the injured rocker before the lights go down. Several minutes later the house lights came up and an announcer said the show was over “due to injury.”
Variety received official word from Manson’s camp that he was taken out on a stretcher and is being treated at a local hospital, with a non-official source saying he “should be fine.”
My first inclination was to think both stage injuries this weekend were part of an organized stunt, but man, last night’s looks especially grizzly… and that wouldn’t be in character for him anyway. Get better soon, dude!
