Fight for Metal to Ensiferum’s New Track “For Those About to Fight for Metal”
Self-referential metal songs are always welcome, and today we’ve got another fine entry into the category via Finnish melodic-folk-death-metallers (or whatever they are) Ensiferum.
“For Those About to Fight for Metal” comes from the band’s freshly announced new album Two Paths. A press release tells us that the album takes the concept of two paths quite literally by including two different versions of two of its tracks, “Don’t You Say” and “God Is Dead.” Explains bassist/vocalist Sami Hinkka, “Even though Ensiferum has always had clean vocals and choirs, harsh vocals have been the main style, and those songs worked so well with both styles that we decided to include both versions.”
The song is what you’d expect from Ensiferum, and what you’d expect from its title: a bombastic, epic, feel good tune about fighting for metal! Duh. Listen below, and be sure to check Ensiferum’s fall European tour dates underneath the embed.
Two Paths comes out on September 15th via Metal Blade; pre-order here.
