Donate to the Medical Fund for Pro-Pain’s Gary Meskil
As you no doubt recall, last week, Pro-Pain frontman Gary Meskil was brutally assaulted while the band was on tour in Brussels, Belgium. In a statement, the band revealed that Meskil “was pick-pocketed of cash, credit card, and passport, struck on the head with an ice pick and then subsequently attacked by a gang of individuals,” after which he “was quickly admitted to ICU… suffering [from] head trauma (including several fractures to his face and jaw) and massive blood loss.” Although doctors were able to stabilize Meskil, they warned that “future surgery may be necessary.”
Now a crowdfunding campaign has been launched to help cover Meskil’s medical bills. The bassist/vocalist is seeking to raise $20,000, and just two days after the campaign began, he’s already accrued more than half that amount.
Which doesn’t mean you shouldn’t donate! Remember: most metal musicians do not make much money, and health insurance isn’t provided by their employer (duh). So these sorts of requests for assistance with medical bills are not just greed — they’re wholly necessary.
Go here and donate if you can. Hopefully Meskil will be back on his feet and able to perform again soon.
