Listen to Another New Stone Sour Track, “Rose Red Violent Blue (This Song Is Dumb And So Am I)”
Now that the drama between Stone Sour / Slipknot frontman Corey Taylor and Nickelback posterboy Chad Kroeger has faded into the rearview mirror, we can get back to discussing actual music. Huzzah! From one of those bands, anyway.
And so: following “Mercy,” “Taipei Person/Allah Tea,” “Song #3” and “Fabuless,” we now get to hear a fifth track from the forthcoming Stone Sour record, Hydrograd. The track premiered on BBC Radio 1‘s “Rock Show With Daniel P Carter.,” and while we aren’t able to embed that stream you can listen here; the song starts around just after one hour and fifteen minutes in.
One-listen hot take: it’s a really good song, a slower number at first that opens up into a rocker, and it only solidifies my impression of Hydrograd. Stone Sour don’t get a ton of respect from the heavier spectrum of the metal community, but they’ve been pumping out incredibly solid hard rock jams album after album for nearly two decades now. How about a little respect?
Hydrograd comes out tomorrow, June 30th, via Roadrunner; pre-order here, and get dates to catch the band on tour with Korn.
