Latest On-Stage Rant from Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin Hones in on Slipknot’s Paul Gray and Drowning Pool’s Dave Williams

Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin has had what feels like his millionth public breakdown.

The vocalist’s latest on-stage debacle? According to Rock Feed, during a performance in Lynchburg, Virginia this past Saturday, March 4, “while the band was performing their hit single ‘Blurry,’ Scantlin launched into a bizarre, impromptu performance of what sounded like ‘Through Glass’ by Stone Sour.” Scantlin then ranted:

“Stone Sour I love you guys. I love you. You guys are great. Kinda magical. Those dudes are cool. God bless Paul. God bless your soul Paul. I should have been there for you dawg. I shoulda been there for you dawg.

“I’m gonna miss Paul from Slipknot. I’m gonna miss the lead singer of Drowning Pool [the band’s late frontman Dave Williams] for the rest of my life.

“We need to keep our eyes on these people man. I’m losing a lot of friends. Let the bodies hit the floor.”

It seems pretty clear that Scantlin is fucked up. Which isn’t a surprise… I’m just saying I think he can be forgiven for briefly conflating Slipknot with Stone Sour and saying he’ll never forget a man whose name he can’t seem to remember (Dave Williams). This guy needs help.

I do think the fact that his band continues to perform with him is pretty gross, though. Given that they all walked off stage mid-show last year as a result of similar behavior, they are clearly not ignorant to what’s going on (as if anyone could be). So at this point, they seem to have more or less made the decision to continue to profit off of Scanlin as long as they can before he finally implodes irreparably. I know it’s hard to make a living as a musician, but c’mon. We know how Scantlin’s story ends if he doesn’t get help. Avoiding having to get a real job is not worth a man’s life, I don’t care how crappy “She Hates Me” was.
