Metallica are Choosing Local Bands to Open Mexico City Shows

Metallica have released a call for local bands to submit for a chance to be chosen as the opening act on one of their three upcoming shows in Mexico City, taking place March 1st, 3rd and 5th.

Bands wishing to submit are being asked to send a video to link to [email protected] along with some background and contact information; specific instructions for submission and qualifications to enter can be found at Metallica’s website. The deadline is 7pm CST on February 20th, after which a “panel of local music industry professionals” will sift through the entries, choose ten finalists, and open it up to public voting! Metallica utilized a similar process for their recent shows in Copenhagen.

While it seems the members of Metallica themselves won’t be involved in the selection process, they’ll surely see the chosen band(s) perform. And it goes without saying that this is the opportunity of a lifetime for any Mexican metal bands hoping to catch a break regardless — they’ll be playing in front of tens (hundreds?) of thousands of Metallica fans, and their name will be spread throughout the Internet — so any interested parties should get on the case right now.
