Nickelback’s “Feed the Machine”… Goes METAL
Operators were on high alert last week after Nickelback released their new single, “Feed the Machine,” for the anticipated mass suicide that was expected to follow.
What happened instead was completely unexpected: cries of “this is actually pretty heavy” reverberated around the metalsphere, which, compared to stuffy ballads like “Hero,” is certainly true, we suppose. We even saw a whole lot of “This actually isn’t that bad!” which is near heresy ’round these parts. Some people claimed Nickelback had gone djent which, if your feelings towards that sub-genre aren’t warm to begin with, could be the single worst combination ever concocted.
So we decided to take that idea to its logical conclusion: guitarist Andrew Baena recorded a metallized version of “Feed the Machine” and roped in vocalist Andrew Patterson to perform vocals… entirely screamed, naturally.
The resulting track is pretty fucking heavy. But yes, it’s still Nickelback.
