Shit That Comes Out Today: February 10, 2017
Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to Shit That Comes Out Today, your Satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams all for your jammage. Now crank this shit up!
·
Burnt Out Wreck
Swallow (TRHRC)
On a playlist with: Jackyl, Kix, Heavy Pettin’
Listen “Swallow” (here)
In some parallel dimension, Angus and Malcolm Young are as political as The Clash — and less frequently as horny as a goat with social aspirations. In this dimension, Burnt Out Wreck’s “Swallow” (above) sounds completely like the Youngs and Bon Scott giving shit to dickless oppressors, blathering hypocrites, ghouls, and other sweaty turds who love rules and money and act all shocked when we stop them.
·
Overkill
The Grinding Wheel (Nuclear Blast)
On a playlist with: Exodus, Testament, Kreator
Listen “Goddamn Trouble” (here) “Mean Green Killing Machine” (here) “Our Finest Hour” (here)
It’s easy to respect a band that trades mystique for the ability to reel off like 11 awesome records. But it means that fans lack a special passion generated by the exotic, unknowable, or singular; fans are in for no surprises, only awesome cuts like clockwork. Our worship of Overkill is like the esteem in which we hold a builder, adventurous elite artists feel more like master painters. Still, we worship Overkill, carry 120 Overkill jams on all our devices, and rejoice upon every new Overkill album and tour.
·
Def Leppard
And There Will Be A Next Time: Live From Detroit DVD/CD (Eagle Rock)
On a playlist with: Crazy Lixx, Winger, Duran Duran
Listen “Photograph [live]” (here)
There’s no shortage of worthy causes to fortify with your monetary donation. You can chip in to an organization that fights violations of human rights (like us on March 10); a few of your hard-won bucks would be so welcome by health centers for sexual and reproductive health; you’d be a saint to make like one of our little world’s best frontman and hit up friends to fund supplies for people who sleep in tents in midwestern winter to stop an oil pipeline project. After you’ve supported these worthy causes, please dig deep for a few more bucks for my campaign to get a goddamn shirt for Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen. We’ve been averting our eyes from his greasy pecs for 30 years now. SEE YOU IN COURT, THAT FREAK TURNS 60 THIS YEAR.
·
Wan
Wan Way To Hell (Carnal)
On a playlist with: Shitfucker, Arckanum, Venefixion
Listen “King Of Evil” (here)
When a STCOT reader like you reads that the band is Wan and their new album is Wan Way To Hell, you might expect a bit of levity. You’d be wrong, this is grim as bums fucking on your couch. Oh weird, it’s available at Target.
·
First Blood
Rules (Pure Noise)
On a playlist with: Hatebreed, Sick Of It All, Madball
Listen Rules full stream (here)
Only a few seconds in to First Blood’s new album and you won’t struggle to comprehend their messages: “First Blood rules” (in “Fuck The Rules”). But then the next song seems reverent of certain rules (“These Are The Rules”) as is the next –but not inflexibly (“Rules Are Meant To Be Broken”). But dear STCOT listener, totally stick with it, for just as you’re thinking that an album of songs about the same thing shouldn’t be so confusing, you realize how comforted you are by First Blood. You may have forgotten a few things over the past weeks: You musn’t only weaken your enemy but strengthen yourself. Be bold and mighty spirits will come to your aid. Quit crying and fuck shit up. Awesome album!!
·
Weltesser
Crestfallen (Prosthetic)
On a playlist with: Suffer, Black Sabbath, High On Fire
Listen Crestfallen full stream (here)
From The Sludgelord: Weltesser’s “… doesn’t sound like misery and doom for the sake of being miserable and doomed. It sounds like an anxious spirit trying to navigate the crumbling, failing nature of existence and interaction within either itself or its surroundings. We’ve all been there. One too many edibles in a social setting and your soul literally shudders from its own presence.”
