Ex-Revocation Drummer Phil Dubois-Coyne Has a New Band Called Huffpit
Phil Dubois-Coyne hasn’t played live with Revocation since sustaining a broken arm while on tour with the band in 2014, and he more or less officially parted ways with the band a year and a half ago. So what’s he been doing over the past two and a half years? This is a man we once chose as the 23rd Best Drummer in Modern Metal — he’s insanely talented behind the kit — so we can’t imagine he’s been sitting idle. And while we’ve heard whispers of new projects he’s been involved in we’ve never gotten anything concrete.
Until now: the drummer posted a series of videos on his Instagram account over the past month in which he can be seen jamming with a guitarist we can’t identify. The new project is called Huffit — hashtagged in all of the videos, and confirmed by Phil in a comment — and seems like a mish-mash of styles ranging from post-metal to black metal to death metal, not dissimilar from something like Dysrythmia. In other words: very different than Revocation!
Check out a few of those videos below and watch more on Phil’s Instagram. Presumably we’ll learn more about Huffpit in the near future.
