WSOU Picks of the Week: Darkest Hour, Seeker, Bullet For My Valentine

0

Seton Hall University’s WSOU radio is the only all-metal, all-the-time station currently broadcasting in the US, and as been a force in metal for DECADES. It’s also streamable online from anywhere in the world! Each week, the staff of WSOU shares their picks for the heaviest of the heavy, as well as the station’s charts for that week, right here on MetalSucks. Enjoy:

Darkest Hour – “Knife In The Safe Room” (Mike C.)

Holy shit, I’m loving this new Darkest Hour song! Their brand of thrashy metalcore never disappoints, and I can easily see this song becoming a crowd favorite. I’m so stoked to hear the rest of their new crowdfunded album, Godless Prophets And Migrant Flora, and I’ll definitely be checking them out on their upcoming tour with Ringworm, Rotten Sound, Tombs, and Rivers of Nihil, which MetalSucks is presenting.

Seeker – “Throat” (Nick D.)

Two minutes of extremely spastic, in-your-face grindcore/hardcore that will melt your face off. Towards the end of the track the band decided to give themselves a rest from the craziness and they end it with a groovy breakdown before going back to the chaos for a few seconds and then ending the madness. Pretty intense stuff.

Bullet For My Valentine – “Don’t Need You” (Holly F.)

After Venom, my expectations for a Bullet record were pretty much decimated, but this single is certainly a step up withmore of the much-loved sound they brought on The Poison. The background orchestral music is a nice touch, though the song does leave something to be desired. It does, however, leave me hopeful for a solid album.
