Slipknot’s Corey Taylor: “Anyone But Trump is Better”

On Friday we promised that our post about Napalm Death frontman Barney Greeway’s thoughts on the U.S. Presidential election would be our last on the topic until this Satan-forsaken election is over.

We lied.

Slipknot / Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor dropped the following nugget in a recent interview with Rolling Stone Australia. We’re certainly not surprised — Taylor was a vocal supporter of Bernie Sanders, has bashed Trump before and has spoken out in support of the Black Lives Matter movement, so we certainly know where his politics lie — but it’s continually refreshing to see that the musicians at the very top of our genre are coming out strongly on the right side of history:

Let’s put it this way — there’s a reason I’m looking at places in your country [to live]. I have faith that come November, people will make the right decision. Does that mean that Hillary Clinton is the right decision? No, I’m not saying that. Honestly, I had my horse tied up with Bernie. However, anyone but Trump is better, in my fuckin’ opinion, and I think the majority of people know it. I’ve lost some fans over this. I’ve had people come at me on social media and on the radio because of the way I feel and I’m, like, what is happening?

Corey’s fuck-it-all attitude is exactly what we need more of in music right now: high-profile stars unafraid of losing fans for supporting what they believe in. Kinda like what we were saying about Machine Head frontman Robb Flynn in our countdown of The 25 Most Important People in Metal. Hmmm…
