Denis Stoff Comments on Leaving Asking Alexandria: “I can’t be in a touring band at this point of my life.”
Do you prefer your fifth-generation, xeroxed metalcore (remember how the Swedes started this stuff in the mid ’90s? and it didn’t suck?) with one singer over the other? That’s kind like asking if you enjoy your jailhouse gruel with salt or pepper. Good news for you, though, as over the weekend Asking Alexandria announced their reunion with original vocalist Danny Worsnop, who parted ways with the band in early 2015.
The tl;dr version of Asking Alexandria’s side of the story: replacement vocalist Denis Shaforostov returned home to Ukraine following a tour and then stopped responding to all forms of communication. Meanwhile the band had been rekindling their relationship with Worsnop and, with a tour fast approaching, decided the time was right to try again.
Now we get Denis’s version, and so far all we get is a very brief tl;dr explanation via a Twitter exchange with Sumerian Records’ label head Ash Avildsen:

It’s one thing to say “I can’t be in a touring band at this point in my life” — how many times have we heard this explanation when a member leaves a band? being in a full-time band is insanely grueling and challenging — but it seems like there’s more going on here than just that.
Asking Alexandria fans are surely losing their shit right now. Meanwhile the rest of us can just sit back with a bag of popcorn (lots of butter, please) to watch the fireworks fly whenever that video drops.
