EPIC EUROPEAN METAL BAND OF THE DAY: RAINTIME
It’s no secret that we here at MetalSucks are huge fans of big, boombastic European metal, the kind that leaves you no choice but to clench your fist in the air in a display of epic defiance (see also: Firewind, Dream Evil, Mercenary). The names of these bands pretty much sums up their sound, so when we saw the name of Italian metallers Raintime come across our news ticker we could only have expected them to sound like a sonic explosion of thunder released from the heavens. Boy is this shit epic! It’s both brutally bone-crushing and epic at the same time, a rare feat indeed, and as such really straddles the line between power metal and melodic death metal. It’s got all the right elements; big drums, big guitars, guitar harmonies, searing keyboards, epicly sung choruses, death metal growls, etc etc etc.
Metal fans in Atlanta can see Raintime at the Progpower USA VIII Festival on October 5, but mysteriously no other US dates have been announced.
