BTBAM Frontman Thomas Giles Posts New Solo Track “Slow Gold Becoming”
So far I’m just loving what I’m hearing from Velcro Kid, the upcoming third solo effort from Between the Buried and Me frontman Thomas Giles (Tommy Rogers). Not only is it completely different from anything BTBAM have ever done — as it should be, as a solo project — but it’s also very, very different from Giles’ previous two albums; the new material is way more electronic-based, more atmospheric and moody than anything he’s released to date.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Rogers grew up listening to Portishead and Massive Attack albums just like I did, and that influence is really showing here on the latest track, “Slow Gold Becoming.” It’s an excellent follow-up to “Strangers in a Paranoid Mind,” released last month, which was a bit darker and heavier but no less of all the other things I mentioned above. We can now see how this album is going to come together, and my prediction is it’s going to be really fucking great.
Velcro Kid comes out November 4 on Sumerian Records and you can pre-order it here.
