Mark Riddick is modern metal’s greatest visual artist. You’ve seen his artwork on albums and merch from Arsis, Dethklok, The Black Dahlia Murder, and Revocation, not to mention his logo designs for Justin Bieber and Rihanna. But Riddick isn’t just an illustrator, he’s also a musician, primarily in his solo death metal project Fetid Zombie, which absolutely fucking rips.

Don’t believe us? Check out the new FZ track, “Devouring the Virtuous,” below. Full of crunching guitars, kickass solos, gurgled Hooded Menace-ish vocals, and just a touch of grandiosity, this mid-paced stoma of a track is a sick and twisted distillation of the band’s sound, combining the vicious grossness of early recordings like Abort the Messiah and the wonky power-death of 2013’s Holy Destroyer. It’s music that sounds like Riddick’s artwork — both underground and repugnant, but also big and boundless.

Check out “Devour the Virtuous” below. Fetid Zombie’s newest album, Epidecia, drops November 25th via Transcending Obscurity; you can pre-order it here.
