Candiria Put Their Money Where Their Mouth is on “Mereya”

Today is one of those terrific embarrassment of riches days where a ton of noteworthy bands release new music: Meshuggah, In Flames, Every Time I Die, Asphyx… and now Candiria! The band, one of Brooklyn’s most beloved merchants of noise, will release a new concept album called While They Were Sleeping (a creepy tribute to John Carpenter’s They Live?) this fall, and have now unveiled a song from that album. It’s called “Mereya,” and holy shit, is it ever great… just as aggro and catchy and idiosyncratic as you’d want a new Candiria song to be. This is one of these songs where you can’t really predict where it’s going… but where it’s going is always awesome.
