Video: New York Subway Busker’s Performance of Tool’s “The Pot” as Annoying as the Original
When I wrote about songs that made weed lame, I included Tool’s “Rosetta Stoned” and our readers immediately responded angrily. Not only did they defend that track, they also asked why I chose it over “The Pot,” which they asserted is far more annoying and damning to stoners than the song I’d chosen. I listened in, and they were correct — “Rosetta Stoned” is bad, but “The Pot” is just terrible. How could it be any worse?
Ask and ye shall receive! Loudwire recently posted this video of subway busker Ryan Albert performing “The Pot” on the Union Square subway platform, and man, it’s just rough. No offense to Albert, who has a strong voice and solid keyboard skills — it’s just that he’s playing a piano version of a really annoying song inside of a tiled cave. Any song would suffer from that location, but an unbearable song does more than others.
Check out Ryan’s rendition below. If you see him on the subway, New Yorkers, give him some money and ask him to play, well, anything else.
