Slayer to Release Three-Part Comic Based on Repentless
The Slayer merch machine is unstoppable. Slayer have announced a partnership with Dark Horse comics to make a three-part comic series based off of their latest album, Repentless. Excite? Yes. Metal and comics were practically made for each other. Dimmu Borgir did it with Dark Fortress so who’s to say Slayer can’t too?
Jon Schnepp is the head honcho behind the upcoming series and you probably know him from designing the characters in Metalocalypse. In addition, Guiu Vilanova will be drawing the interior bloodlines (best job description ever), Glenn Fabry has the cover art and Eric Powell is behind the variant cover of the first issue. I don’t know who any of those people except for Schnepp are, but if one of our more seasoned comic book fan readers could enlighten us, feel free.
This is interesting, to say the least. Although the concepts for all of Slayer’s music are undeniably brutal, MetalSucks’ own Emperor Rhombus gave the album just two out of five horns. Hopefully the comic based on Repentless is better than the record itself. Going off the previews that’s definitely the way it’s looking.
Slayer: Repentless #1 will hit shelves sometime in December and you can pre-order it here. In the mean time, you can check out some of the artwork below.
