Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to Shit That Comes Out Today, your Satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we usually stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this shit up.

UrobilinemiaUrobilinemia
Wriggling Chrysalis Of Metaphysical Grudge (Gore House)
On a playlist with: Rings Of Saturn, grindcore
Listen Wriggling Chrysalis Of Metaphysical Grudge full stream (here)

Urobilinemia is basically the Japanese version of Rings Of Saturn: outrageous hyper-death with robotic drums and astronautical aspirations. But Wriggling Chrysalis Of Metaphysical Grudge is more, there’s simply more variation, and also BREEEEEEEEEE, BREEEEEEEEE sounds sick! Basically, this band = insane and this album = incomprehensible, and unfortunately in some parts, not the greatest. But it will fuck with ya.

Denouncement Pyre Black Sun UnboundDenouncement Pyre
Black Sun Unbound (Hells Headbangers)
On a playlist with: Glorior Belli, Absinthius, Mortuary Drape
Listen “World Encircler” (here) “Scars Adorn The Whore In Red” (here)

If ever the word “rips” were to describe just one metal album, Black Sun Unbound would be that album. It’s this combination of black metal, extreme vocals, and old school thrashiness which acts as the 40,000 horsepower turbodiesel engine to power your heart. Enjoy as your blood rips through your fucking veins at rocket speed, baby!

Revocation-GreatIsOurSinRevocation
Great Is Our Sin (Metal Blade)
On a playlist with: Obscura, Death, Beyond Creation
Listen Great Is Our Sin full stream (here)
Read Max Frank MetalSucks review (here)

Revocation: the band that can do no wrong. They’re the purest manifestation of straight-up metal. Like, metal as fuck, thru-‘n’-thru (plus, live, they play like all-stars). Great Is Our Sin is a continuation of Revocation’s warpath of riff-focused, in-the-pit metal: you’ll find the corners are a bit more rounded, but the music’s overall breadth has extended, as well as the songwriting. Comprehensive, full-on metal.

Wreck And ReferenceWreck And Reference
Indifferent Rivers Romance End (The Flenser)
On a playlist with: Envy, June of ’44, The Number 12 Looks Like You
Listen Indifferent Rivers Romance End full stream (here)

Embracing this band requires a healthy amount of hesitance. It’s telling the difference between what’s real vs. that which just tries too hard. Indifferent Rivers Romance End is the least try-hard album of its type, lately. That’s to say: the range is huge, from chill electronic to soft indie bits to progressive arthouse shit. Metal at core, though, with a focus on hard drama and core-truth ethos and whathaveyou. Like a good movie, almost.

Despised IconDespised Icon
Beast (Nuclear Blast)
On a playlist with: Carnifex, Emmure, Whitechapel
Watch “Beast” (here) “Aftermath” (here)

Three cheers for dual vocalists, because it’s a damn cool idea and Despised Icon nails it. That said, listening to Beast is like eating at low-end fast food on a Friday night. That is not to say that Beast is a piece of shit. It’s solid deathcore without constant-total-deathcore. While prior albums featured more experimentation, you still get rhythm-focused riffs and pretty sweet breakdowns.

harakiriHarakiri For The Sky
III: Trauma (Art Of Propaganda)
On a playlist with: Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Agrypnie, The Downfall Of Gaia
Listen III: Trauma full stream (here)

Post-rock is adaptable, and malleable, and Harakiri For The Sky are hands-on artisans. III: Trauma feels felt-out instead thought-out, and not in a bad way. Like it was discovered along some journey. Be prepared for slow, BIC-waving ballads of what’s essentially soft black metal. This album succeeds especially through headphones, at night, eyes closed, ready for something more, something bigger, something better. Get to it.
