LEGENDARY BROOKLYN METAL CLUB L’AMOUR REOPENS DOORS…
… in Staten Island [via New York Metro]. L’Amour was a metal staple of the ’80s in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, playing host to bands like Metallica, Anthrax, Motorhead, and more. It was forced to shut its doors in 1995 when a kid was killed while stage diving. The new club has a few upcoming shows booked including a Motley Crue tribute band, a Led Zeppelin tribute band (featuring Type O Negative’s Johnny Kelly on drums) and on Saturday, August 18th the Tracii Guns version of L.A. Guns.
It’s great to hear that a metal club has opened its doors in New York City, as metal clubs here are few and far between… scratch that, there aren’t any. But sadly, the fact that it’s buried pretty deep in Staten Island makes it pretty much irrelevant to those living outside of Staten Island and New Jersey. Unless you have a car. Which none of us do.
