Hear “The Siren’s Call” of Necromancing the Stone

MetalSucks readers oughta remember Necromancing the Stone, who debuted their first-song-ever, “Rotted Reunion,” on this very site. The group features Arsis’ James Malone (guitars), The Absence’s Jeramie Kling (drums), former The Black Dahlia Murder bassist Ryan “Bart” Williams (bass), and Brimstone Coven’s “Big” John Williams (vocals) and Justin Wood (guitars), and they are, as far as I’m concerned, one of the best trad metal bands to emerge in quite some time.

So I’m pleased as punch to report that Necromancing the Stone have signed with Metal Blade… and announced an August 5 release date for their new album, Jewel of the Vile…

…AND announced that the album will feature guest appearances by Jeff Loomis (Arch Enemy, ex-Nevermore) and Kling’s The Absence bandmate Taylor Nordberg… AND released the first single from that album, “The Siren’s Call.”

Gotta be honest: I’m a little sad they didn’t stay on-theme here and release a cover of Billy Ocean’s “When the Going Gets Tough, the Tough Get Going.” But my sadness is lessened considerably but how thoroughly “The Siren’s Call” kicked my ass. Listen:
