Pyrexia Vocalist Erick Shute Arrested on Murder Charges
Pyrexia vocalist Erick Shute has been arrested for allegedly shooting and killing three men yesterday (Monday, June 13), NJ.com reports. Shute is said to have ambushed the three men from a wooded area near Cacapon Resort State Park in rural Morgan County, West Virginia; he had apparently filed property disputes against the victims in the past, and was, in this instance, enraged that they were clearing firewood near his property. He was apprehended after an eight-hour manhunt.
This is apparently not Shute’s first run-in with the law:
In 2009 while living in Salem County, Shute was the center of controversy when he hung a flag upside down as “signal of distress” for America and said he believed the government was corrupt.
According to court records, Shute was indicted by a New Jersey grand jury in 2011 on charges of aggravated assault upon a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
Indeed, Shute’s Facebook page contains a great deal of militantly anti-government, pro-“survivalist” images and article links, such as this one:
Shute claimed self-defense on Facebook prior to his arrest. The post has since been removed, but you can view a screencap below.
Pyrexia have yet to issue a statement.
More news as we get it.
