The Classic Misfits Line-Up is Reuniting for Riot Fest
There is no band like Misfits, and there never will be. They’re too angry and fun for goths, too evil and horror-drenched for typical punks, too fast and loose for metalheads. Even if their members have gone on to become ridiculous douchebags, no one can deny their incredible music and their undying legacy.
And now, fans are going to get to see the classic Misfits line-up play together once more. It was announced today that the reunited Misfits–featuring vocalist Glenn Danzig, bassist Jerry Only, and guitarist Doyle Von Frankenstein–will be playing under the Crimson Ghost banner at Riot Fest in Chicago and Denver.
Before we go any further, let me just get this out of the way: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.
Okay, anyway. The band will play at Riot Fest & Rodeo in Denver, which goes down September 2nd through 4th, and will then also play the Riot Fest & Carnival in Chicago, which is September 16th through 18th.
I’ll be interested to see how this goes. Will Danzig get sidetracked by a death bug and need emergency soup? Will Jerry Only try to merchandise every aspect of the appearance? We can only wait and see.
Meanwhile, I’m stoked. You bet your ass I’ll be there in Denver. Sure, this is just a grab for cash on everyone’s parts, but I couldn’t care less. I saw Danzig and Doyle in New York back in the day, and that set was amazing. Hopefully this one will be just as good.
Here’s “I Turned Into A Martian.” See you in the pit, fiends.
