Fear, Emptiness, Decibel: The June Issue Will Sock You Right in the Gorguts

Before there were blogs there were these things called magazines, and the only metal magazine we still get excited about reading every month is Decibel. Here’s editor-in-chief Albert Mudrian…

Gorguts have been on a pretty good run since frontman Luc Lemay resurrected the band in the late aughts. First, 2013’s comeback album Colored Sands was a commercial and critical smash—even ranking at #3 of Decibel’s Albums of the Year list. Then they nabbed a spot on the 2014 Decibel Magazine Tour, bringing their now-unclassifiable style of death metal to a wider audience than ever before. The next logical step is to release a 30-minute+ one-track album called Pleiades’ Dust so Decibel can devote our first-ever Gorguts cover story to it, right? Done and done.

The June issue of Decibel is now available in our webstore and includes a Hall of Fame induction of Mastodon’s sophomore album Leviathan, in-depth look on Norwegian black metal legends’ struggles to shake their black metal pasts and a live rundown of Neurosis’ 30th anniversary shows in the bay area.

And if you motor, you can even score an issue containing the brand new Asphyx flexi disc! Not only is this the first new Asphyx track in over four years, it’s actually Decibel’s new official theme song “Deathibel!” Hurry! Extremely limited quantities are available!
