Did you guys know that Sweden’s Grand Magus like Vikings? What about metal–were you aware that they were into metal as well? Now, the big surprise: did you know that Grand Magus like Viking metal? I know, I’m dropping truth bombs left and right here.

Apparently, Grand Magus weren’t sure people knew what they were about, so they wrote this track, “Forged in Iron – Crowned in Steel”, where the main line of the chorus is “VI-KING METAL!” and the bridge includes the phrase, “Odin, grant me gold and glory.” So, if you have a BA in English, you can use your incredible deduction skills to read between the lines and discover that, yup, Grand Magus play Viking metal, and they like Vikings and the metal that Vikings provide. I’m glad they cleared this up, as sounding a shit-ton like Manowar just wasn’t enough to convince me thus far.

Listen to “Forged in Iron – Crowned in Steel” below. The bands new album of pure Viking metal, Sword Songs, drops May 13th via Nuclear Blast, and will be blessed by the Aesir in the halls of Asgard surrounded by a bunch of Marshall Amps and latter-day Bathory records. Viking metal? Viking metal.
