Supergroup Gone is Gone Premiere Debut Single, “Violescent”
Last week, we told you about Gone is Gone, a new project featuring Troy Sanders (Mastodon, Killer Be Killed), Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age, Ex-A Perfect Circle), Tony Hajjar (At the Drive-In, Sparta), and Mike Zarin (no idea). Today, that project has unveiled their first-ever single. Yay.
The song is called “Violescent,” so I guess it’s about the brightness of violence? I dunno. Anyway, you can listen here. As you may have deduced from my unenthusiastic tone, it doesn’t do much for me (save for a fairly simple, kinda weird guitar solo, which really tickles me for some reason). It’s not bad or anything, it just didn’t grab me by the nuts and yell “LISTEN TO THIS SHIT IT’S AWESOME MOTHERFUCKER!” As is always the case, you’re entitled to your opinion, at least until my new job as Supreme Dictator of the United States comes through.
Gone is Gone’s self-titled debut comes out July 8 on Rise. If you pre-order it on iTunes, you get an immediate download of “Violescent.” Double yay.
