Exclusive Track Premiere: “Hope Less” by Joy
As you can probably guess, Joy‘s moniker is ironic: the North Carolina band makes music that is anything but jubilant. Scalding, sandblasted, crispy, blackened metallic hardcore chock full of contusing-yet-tasty elephants marching riffs — that’s Joy’s speciality. To paraphrase Jack Napier, “Happy people shouldn’t listen to this. They’d be happier listening to something else.”
You, however, as a reader of a website called MetalSucks, are going to fucking love this band.
But don’t just take our word for it: learn for yourself how Joy can make feeling bad feel so very good via the song “Hope Less,” which we are proud to be debuting right here, right now. It comes off of their sophomore EP, Of Nothing, which drops June 17 on Blood & Ink Records. Produced by Kris Hilbert (Torch Runner, Between the Buried and Me), Of Nothing will make you fall in love with Joy, hard — it certainly had that effect on us!
The band will also be announcing tour dates shortly… we will keep you updated, natch. ‘Til then, blast this shit:
