Listen to Two 1985 Live Recordings from the Metallica Ride the Lightning Reissue
Just when you thought you’d never get to buy a good Metallica album again: The PRP reports that the band will be doing deluxe box set reissues of Kill ‘Em All and Ride the Lightning, both of which will be released on Record Store Day (April 15) alongside a 2003 live recording, Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite, Metallica! The 2003 recording you could probably care less about (it was made while the band was promoting St. Anger, fer Chrissakes), but the reissues will have some cool shit, including live recordings produced when the band was still good.
Two of the songs which will have live versions of the Lightning reissue have now been posted online: ‘Tallica’s famous cover of Diamond Head’s “Am I Evil?”, and their own classic, “Motorbreath.” Both were recording in San Francisco on March 15, 1985 — almost thirty-one years ago to the day.
