Evan Brewer Reveals Why He Left The Faceless

Why did bass boss Evan Brewer leave The Faceless in 2014? At the time, he explained his decision thusly:

“I just feel that it’s time for me to make this move because I want to make new music, do more teaching, and to also have availability for any musical opportunities that may arise. The Faceless is a full time band and they need members who can commit to that schedule.”

In a new interview with Metal Insider, however, Brewer makes it clear that while the band’s schedule was definitely an issue for him, it was not the “full time” part that was a problem:

“I respect Michael [Keene, The Faceless’ mastermind] as a musician and I think he’s gonna make something really great. I just don’t know how long it will take him though, that’s part of the reason I left. Being a creative person, I crank things out all the time and the amount of time between records for The Faceless just felt extreme.”

Which is a fair stance, especially since touring seems to be an issue for The Faceless these days as well. Fans should be able to empathize with Brewer’s feeling restless.

Brewer is certainly keeping busy these days, though: last year, he co-founded the tech-death supergroup Entheos, whose debut full-length, The Infinite Nothing, comes out April 1 on Artery.
