WSOU Picks of the Week: Fallujah, Toothgrinder
Seton Hall University’s WSOU radio is the only all-metal, all-the-time station currently broadcasting in the US, and as been a force in metal for DECADES. It’s also streamable online from anywhere in the world! Each week, the staff of WSOU shares their picks for the heaviest of the heavy, as well as the station’s charts for that week, right here on MetalSucks. Enjoy:
Toothgrinder – Blue (Mike C.)
New Jersey natives Toothgrinder released their first full-length album Nocturnal Masquerade last month following their 2014 EP Schizophrenic Jubilee. “Blue” delivers proggy, syncopated riffs with an absolute earworm of a chorus that’s been caught in my head for I don’t even know how long. The percussive vocal delivery and chaotic but controlled instrumentation makes for a refreshing change of pace in the scene. These guys also put on an intense live show that can’t be missed!
Fallujah – The Void Alone (Garren L.)
Fallujah’s newest track “The Void Alone” is awe-inspiring with its blend of technical and atmospheric elements. With this song Fallujah have been able to create an intense ferocity that assaults the listener, but then, just moments later, brings you into moments of serene musical bliss. It’s this unique blend of elements which made this track stand out to me the first time I listened to it and every time since then.
