UTAH GOVERNOR DECLARES “DREAM THEATER DAY”

This one was too good to pass up: Larry D. Curtis of Utah’s Deseret Morning News reports that Utah Governor Jon Huntsman designated July 30 “Dream Theater Day” in honor of the band’s first performance in the state in 7 years, which took place this past Monday night. Above, a photo of the governor and his two sons (one of whom is a drummer and huge Mike Portnoy fan) with the band. The best part: Mike Portnoy giving the thumbs up! Who still does this?

When asked before the show how Utah’s Mormon tradition would influence Dream Theater’s preference for musical masturbation, Governor Huntsman had no comment.
