Cobalt and Spylacopa Announce New Albums

Group hug time, gang: two awesome projects have announced new offerings, both of which will be released in the coming months!

• Cobalt will release Slow Forever, their heavily anticipated follow-up to 2009’s acclaimed Gin, on March 25 via Profound Lore. Erik Wunder remains onboard; vocalist Charlie Fell (Negative Approach, ex-Lord Mantis) takes over for Phil McSorley. MetalSucks senior editor Anso DF interviewed Wunder about the album last year, at which point Wunder said that “the album will have nine main songs, as well as a couple of intro/instrumental type of songs,” and promised that the new material would be “huge.” Read the entire interview here.
• Spylacopa will release their sophomore full-length, Demon John, on February 3 via Rising Pulse Records, the label owned by Spylacreator John LaMacchia (also of Candiria fame, duh). The cover art and a kick-ass new track, “Duskeyhead,” are below; you can pre-order the album here. Like previous Spylacopa releases, Demon John is said to have “a great cast of guest collaborators,” although specifics have yet to be identified. In any case, I’m sure this will be great… and I’m more than a little curious to know if LaMacchia is the titular John. That would be interesting, no?
