Demonaz and Horgh Say Abbath’s “Personal Problems” Caused Immortal Split

Why did Abbath and Immortal part ways? Abbath has said it’s because his bandmates, Demonaz and Horgh, stopped paying for their share of the band’s rehearsal space, which he interpreted to mean they were quitting the band; Demonaz and Horgh disputed his claim and promised to offer their own explanation soon.

Just about a year later, that explanation has arrived:

This obviously conflicts with Abbath’s version of the story to an extent where one of the two parties must be lying. So who is telling the truth? I don’t know, and I don’t particularly care. It’s already clear who has won this fight: Immortal! So what if Abbath wrote all of their music? Demonaz wrote all of their lyrics, and if there’s one thing that’s super-duper-important in metal music, it’s lyrics. There is no reason to be worried about the quality of the new Immortal album whatsoever.

Meanwhile, what has Abbath done, besides perform, record an album, do publicity, and get himself booked to headline the 2016 edition of the Decibel Magazine Tour? Drugs, man. They’re such a motivation killer.
