Eagles of Death Metal’s Jesse Hughes Speaks Out on Paris Attacks in New Interview

I can only imagine what the members of the Eagles of Death Metal are going through right now; after 89 fans were murdered at their show as part of the terrorist attacks in Paris on November 13, the band’s name will now forever be in the history books for all the wrong reasons. Maybe our kids will know the band’s music and maybe they won’t — but they’ll all read about the band in their textbooks.

The group released a statement regarding the tragedy last week, but have otherwise been (understandably) silent… until now: Vice has a new interview with vocalist/guitarist Jesse Hughes and Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, who co-founded EoDM and plays on their recordings but was not performing that tragic night in France.

The full interview is not yet available, but Metal Injection reports that Vice have released a teaser which sounds just… well… awful, to be frank. Here’s a quote from Hughes, for example, which makes me feel sick to my stomach:

“Several people hid in our dressing room and the killers were able to get in and killed every one of them – except for a kid who was hiding under my leather jacket. People were playing dead and they were so scared. A great reason why so many were killed is because so many people wouldn’t leave their friends. So many people put themselves in front of people.”

You can watch a clip of the interview below. It’s simply heartbreaking; Hughes sounds like he’s on the verge of tears at all times, and Homme can barely bring himself to look anywhere but down at the table in front of him.
