Listen: Get a Hold of Funeral Throne’s New Classic

Let’s imagine that we’ve set up a portable listening booth on a busy sidewalk in a few big cities. In each one, a hundred people have been seated comfortably for a listening session of Funeral Throne’s second album Threshold from start to finish and very loud. In their post-jam feedback, I bet we’d find a very frequent use of the word “magic.” I bet many would liken the experience and its aftermath to, say, having witnessed one of those games when the Lakers offense seems supernatural. I bet most of them would emerge from the booth in the mood of someone just rocked by a really fresh, exhilarating movie. Over/under on breathless fuck-yeahs per listener: four.

Threshold first got a limited release last year on cassette, but I guess the fault is ours for having overlooked it until its official release a few days ago. Sky high, dynamic black metal that rocks, 10/10. Crank it up.
