So Hideous Dream of “Yesteryear”

It’s been two years since So Hideous’ full-length debut Last Poem/First Light hit shelves, and plenty of folks — including many here at the Mansion — have been eagerly awaiting their return. Well, the band have released a new track today named “Yesteryear,” and you can listen below.

This is my first So Hideous listening experience, and overall I’m impressed in a lot of ways. This basically sounds like a filthy blackened version of the theme to The Godfather to my ears. It’s a little pretty, overall — has a bit much of what I didn’t initially love about Deafheaven to it — but it’s doing enough stuff which I don’t hear every day that I can’t help but give these guys props.

Anyway, enough of my bullshit, make up your own minds. Here’s “Yesteryear.” So Hideous’ new album Laurestine comes out October 16th on Prosthetic.
