InAeona’s New Jam “Leader” Will Satiate Your Spacey Post-Metal Fix and Then Some
Get to a show early, and good things might happen.
So it was when InAeona opened for Junius and So Hideous at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus Bar last winter. The plan was to get there early to take advantage of the free beer — which I did — and stand in the back with the rest of the jaded industry d-bags yapping our gums. But InAeona’s sound had an instant pull so powerful, so magnetic, that I couldn’t help being drawn in. Not just to check out one song and nod in approval with my arms crossed… but the entire fucking set, right up front. Their show was that electrifying, without question the highlight of the entire night.
The Boston-based band certainly owe a lot to Junius and bands of their ilk, but with Junius emphasizing the Morrissey part of their sound and toning down the Metal with each passing release, InAeona might have the heaviness edge these days. They’ve also got their lead vocalist/guitarist, who simply goes by “Bridge;” her vocal approach brings a punk rock intensity and almost Patton-like diversity you don’t often hear in this kind of music, and her stage presence is just as forceful. The rhythm section keeps things forcefully charging ahead, and the results are mesmerizing.
Check out “Leader” below via Bloody Disgusting and see if you agree. Their Prosthetic Records debut Force the Rising Sun comes out on August 7th.
