Revocation and Phil Dubois Both Issue Statements About Split
It was a great sadness yesterday when we learned that Revocation and drummer Phil Dubois had parted ways. Phil was a founding member and had been in the band since he was 14 fucking years old, meaning that guitarist/vocalist Dave Davidson is now the only original member left (bassist Anthony Buda skipped in 2012). Dan Gargiulo joined on second guitar in 2010 on the Existence is Futile album cycle, and he basically feels like an original member at this point… but still, ya know?
Here’s Phil’s statement on his decision to leave — both parties are framing it as “Phil quit” and not vice versa, so at least it seems amicable — which was posted on his Facebook page last night:
And here’s the band’s statement, posted on their own Facebook page shortly after Phil’s went up:
So there it is; it’s official now.
We’re excited to learn via Revocation that Phil’s got a new project in the works, and we most certainly look forward to hearing it.
Interestingly the band has not named an official replacement, so perhaps they’ll just keep plugging the hole with fill-ins like Alex Rudinger and Jon “Charn” Rice for the time being… or maybe they’re just being coy for now. More updates when we have ’em.
