It’s Another New Veil of Maya Song (with More Clean Singing!)
If you clicked into this post because of the “clean singing” tagline, congratulations, you’re a chode. Adding clean singing to their repertoire (via new vocalist Lukas Magyar) is the best thing Veil of Maya have ever done, that extra push over the edge that, combined with a newly refined songwriting approach, could catapult them from “decent band with cool riffs” to “great band with memorable songs.”
Will new album Matriarch bestow “great band” status upon Veil of Maya? That remains to be seen. But first single “Mikasa” was really sweet, and this new jam called “Teleute” is pretty good too. It’s not as immediately catchy to my ears as “Mikasa,” but there are some good riffs (no surprise there) and the clean singing part in the song’s final minute is a solid addition.
Matriarch comes out May 12th on Sumerian. Pre-order here.
