Exclusive Premiere: Dead Empires, Secret Snakes, Silent Serpent
MetalSucks first discovered Dead Empires when… well, we’re not exactly sure when, come to think of it. It feels like they’ve pretty much always been here, waiting to spew forth into the world like five days’ worth of jizzum upon on unsuspecting victim. MetalSucks readers got their first taste of the Hudson Valley three-piece on Volume 4 of MetalSucks’ completely free NYC Sucks compilation, alongside Extinction A.D., Mutilation Rites, Artificial Brain, Family and others, and since then the band’s been hard at work on finishing up their latest album Secret Snakes, Silent Serpent.
That album comes out on February 3rd via the band’s Bandcamp, and today MetalSucks is stoked to stream it in full. Dead Empires possess a rare intensity not often seen in the instrumental metal world; instead of getting caught up in showmanship, Dead Empires channel their proggy tendencies into the stoner/doom side of things with a vague hardcore sensibility that calls to mind Northeastern heroes like Rosetta and Fight Amp. Secret Snakes, Silent Serpent is music to groove to, music to drink beer to and music to smoke a doob to in equal measures… and maybe even mosh to if you’re feeling rowdy.
