And the New Drummer for DevilDriver is…
…Austin D’Amond, former drummer for Bleed the Sky and, until this past September, Chimaira (to the best of my knowledge, he’s also still involved with former Chimaira guitarist Rob Arnold’s The Elite).
D’Amond himself made the announcement via Twitter early this morning:

D’Amond is a fantastic drummer — he was always the best part of Bleed the Sky, and his contributions to Chimaira’s Crown of Phantoms are part of what made that album the absolute wrecking ball that it is — so this oughta make DevilDriver fans happy.
Unfortunately, we have no idea when D’Amond will be performing or recording with DevilDriver, since Dez Fafara in currently in the midst of creating an aural equivalent to opening The Lost Ark of the Covenant. Still, assuming that album doesn’t mark the end of civilization as we know it, it will be fun to see D’Amond play with DevilDriver whenever that happens.
Side note: so far D’Amond has been in bands called Bleed the Sky, Chimaira, DevilDriver, and The Elite. Can anyone hook this dude up with a jobs (however temporary) in The Acacia Strain and Fear Factory, just to keep up the pattern?
