RE: The Sorrow vs. Sanctity
Dear Matt,
Boy oh boy, did you back the wrong pony. Like your buddies in Sanctity (or your own band Trivium), Austrians The Sorrow play metalcore-tinged new wave thrash; unlike Sanctity, The Sorrow have the songwriting skills to make it seem interesting even if it’s not exactly original. Pounding, scream-til-your-throat bleeds verses, epic, cinematic clean crooning, shredding solos, militaristic breakdowns – this might sound like I’m describing Sanctity and not Sorrow, except that Sorrow posses that ineffable quality we like to call “talent.” Check out “Death from a Lover’s Hand” or, better yet, “Knights of Doom” and tell me it doesn’t have “hit single” written all over it.
Do yourself a favor, Matt – get Monte Connor on the phone and tell him you found the next great Hot Topic band.
Kittens and Butterflies,
Axl Rosenberg
