Courtney Love Turns 50, Joins Marilyn Manson as Part of Sons of Anarchy Cast
Today is Courtney Love’s fiftieth birthday. Happy birthday, Courtney! You’ve been making the world a crazier place for a half a century! YAY!!!
Ms. Love is celebrating the anniversary of the day Kurt Cobain fans always wish never happened in a number of ways, most notable amongst them being this list of obsessions she couldn’t do without (#1 is sex… sex with Courtney Love… gross), and the announcement that she’ll be playing a “pivotal, multi-episode” arc on the upcoming final season of Sons of Anarchy. Which would be notable regardless of the character she was playing… but is even more notable because she’s playing a goddamned school teacher. Because nothing says “a child’s education” like a woman whose own child wants nothing to do with her. But for what it’s worth, Love is probably a better actress than she is a musician — people tend to forget that she actually got a ton of awards and award nominations for her performance in The People Vs. Larry Flynt.
In any case, while Love is apparently going to have a lotta on-camera beef with former Sopranos star Drea De Matteo’s character, what we all REALLY wanna see is her share some screen time with Marilyn Manson, who is also part of the Sons final season cast (alas, he’s playing a white supremacist, not a school teacher). Manson had nothing nice to say about Love in his memoir, Long Hard Road Out of Hell (she apparently broke bassist Jeordie “Twiggy Ramirez” White’s heart!), and his 1999 co-headlining tour with Hole famously fell apart after he and Love took to insulting one another from the stage every night. Something tells me a scene where their two characters butt heads wouldn’t take very much acting at all.
