Wovenwar, “One Year” after Tim Lambesis’ Arrest

Wovenwar, the new band that is to As I Lay Dying as Velvet Revolver was to Guns N’ Roses*, have released a video entitled “One Year,” which chronicles in montage — wait for it! — the band’s first year in existence. Not-coincidentally I’m sure, the band has existed for nearly 365 days — Tim Lambesis accidentally started Wovenwar when he was arrested on May 7, 2013.

Two things about this video:

  1. The soundtrack is a sample of a new Wovenwar song, and, once again, it’s hard not to interpret the lyrics as being about the whole Lambesis situation: “Maybe I was better naive/ Maybe I was better when I couldn’t see.”
  2. The fact that all this footage exists makes me wonder if there isn’t a longer (perhaps even feature length?) documentary in the works. It’s certainly a dramatic enough story to turn into a non-fiction film, and assuming their fan base accepts Wovenwar with open arms, it will have a triumphant ending to boot.

Watch “One Year” below. Wovenwar’s self-titled debut is scheduled for a late summer release via Metal Blade.

*Assuming Axl Rose hadn’t just gone crazy and broken up the band, but had gone crazy and tried to have Stephanie Seymour whacked by a hitman that he found by asking a casual acquaintance for a referral in the parking lot of his gym (presumably after discovering that they don’t rate hired killers on Yelp).
