Today in Resignation Letters: Phil McSorley Leaves Cobalt, Bob Bagchus Leaves Asphyx
Sorry, kids, but some of your most favoritist members from two of your most favoritist bands may no longer be in those bands. Specifically:
- Last year, Phil McSorley told Decibel that Cobalt would finally begin work on their follow-up to 2009’s critically acclaimed Gin following their Spring 2013 tour. I dunno what happened with that, but I guess it’s a moot point, ’cause the band posted this message on their Facebook page late last night:I can’t really imagine Wunder continuing Cobalt without McSorley, but I guess we’ll see what happens. In any case, Gin was certainly a high note on which to go out, no?
- Meanwhile, Asphyx’s Bob Bagchus (I always wanna type “Bob Bacchus”) is also moving on. Says that band via their Facebook page:Who picks their family over death metal? What a loser! All kidding aside, I’m mostly just glad that the band hired another drummer whose last name will constantly remind me of a different phrase altogether… in this case, I shall forever be tempted to type “Stefan Hüsker Dü.” Thank God for small victories.
As of this writing, no one else has left any other bands. That I know of.
