Unsigned & Unholy: Dradis
So yesterday, reader Mike Merino hit me up on Twitter and asked me to check out some demos for his project, Dradis (I assume it’s a Battlestar reference). And I’m not gonna lie: I try to listen to as many promos/links as you guys send me, but a lot of them, y’know, totally blow goats, and I was kinda dreading checking out Dradis because there was a really good chance that they were gonna blow goats and I was gonna hafta be mean to Mike and be like “Dude go work at a Dunkin’ Donuts” or something.
But HAPPY DAY! Dradis is really good. The song Mike initially directed me to, “The River,” has a very Intronaut-y vibe to it, but having now explored some of the other Dradis tracks on Mike’s Soundcloud page, it’s clear that the project indulges in a fairly wide range of styles: Queens of the Stone Age fans will eat up “Too Late,” “We Fall” is pretty much ready to be on the next Foo Fighters album, “Our Own” borrows liberally from the Bad Religion playbook, while “Adderall” is one of the better Weezer songs Weezer never wrote. And there’s a couple of more songs I haven’t even gotten to yet… although I’m certainly excited to do so in the near future.
Check out “The River” below, then head over to Mike’s Soundcloud page to check out some more of Dradis’ material.
